I assume this has been discussed at some point in the past but being a new guy to this list and out of general interest does anybody know how the name 'Boards of Canada' came about? Must be a story in there somewhere. Hopefully an interesting one ... ? Paul.

the name has something to do w/ films etc..: This enigmatic electronica duo Mike Sandison (b. 14 July 1971, Scotland) and Marcus Eoin (b. 27 May 1973, Scotland) reportedly derive their collaborative moniker from the, National Film Board of Canada whose nature/socio-political documentaries they (supposedly) watched as infants, when both sets of parents relocated to Alberta, Canada to work. These grainy films influence the mood and ambience of their early singles 'Hi-Scores' and 'Aquarius' (on the Skam label), and their albums Twoism (of which only 100 copies were pressed) and Music Has The Right To Children. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
